Dublin born Niall Byrne moved to Australia nine years ago and has spent those years wisely, making a big difference to environmental outcomes – and project outcomes.

“We add value, save clients money, improve the processes and improve the jobs.

I enjoy what I do … I enjoy a challenge – I want to build a business and train and mentor younger staff.”

Niall is practical and pragmatic – if you had to pick what his career was, you’d certainly pick an engineer first up. Educated at Dublin’s prestigious Trinity College, his double Engineering degree has been put to good use.

But it’s not all work. A regular ocean swimmer and member of the local surf club, Niall still plays rugby and enjoys most sports … except for cricket!

He loves working outdoors and decided long ago he didn’t want to be stuck in an office.

His inherent understanding of engineering and construction projects and his vast experience across continents mean that he’s able to not only understand regulations but to interpret them and find clever, smart engineering solutions for clients … leading to positive outcomes.

What Niall values about being part of the CARAS business is their ability to set the tone.

“If we don’t like something, we change it.”

Oh – and he also quite likes the people and positive working environment. Because when you do something you love and that challenges you, you tend to have a happier, more positive environment.

Not only valuing the friendships he’s made in Australia, Niall appreciates the climate, beaches and lifestyle we have here. Of course he does … it doesn’t rain every day here in Sydney!
